Bonjour, cupcakes! I’m creating this post while kneeling as my ass is so sore from yesterday’s workout! It was all SQUATS – back, front, sumo, bulgarian, body weight – you name it – I’ve squatted that! The deal is – lately I noticed that I was lacking the lower body training. I mean I was progressing with the upper part and getting nowhere with the lower. And when I bench pressed the weight I had been squatting (with no progression at all) – I had to get serious. So I hired the trainer and now I do lower body every exercise session. Oh, that’s painful. Though it does feel great at the same time. No pain, no gain, right?
Sore ass aside – it’s Wednesday!! Time to share some eats with you and the rest of the world that gathers at Jenn’s Peas&Crayons. Check that out. You might get inspired. So foods of yesterday:
And for the sakes of my painful butt, please share: any exercise(s) that make/made you painfully sore (lately)? How do you deal with that?
Or just comment on anything… or not…
Love, Greta
Nicole Marie Story said:
I do not become sore no matter the exercise because I am the exercise addict. 😉 xo
Greta said:
Yeah, if I was doing so much walking and yoga and cycling classes, I won’t be whining right now! I spend the days sitting on my butt!!
So yeah, I’m jealous. 😉
ziggy40 said:
I feel your pain, I’m soo unfit, trying to get back to horse riding, sore bottom!
Greta said:
Horse riding!!! I mean HORSE RIDING! Jealousy! I adore horses. However I’ve never ridden one. Lucky you!
ziggy40 said:
I’m really lucky with that, it ‘got me though childhood’, i had a pony, went to pony club and did go on to teach myself. I wish that it was something all kids could do. As an only child in single parent situation..well my pony was my best friend!
Greta said:
Now I’m jealous even more! Gosh, I wish I had a pony or better a unicorn! Both were a fairytale for me! 😀
ziggy40 said:
Hey Greta, wish I could send you one and with that ‘fairy dust’ and make it all better! wish it was that simple…I know it’s not…lol
Greta said:
Aww, you are so sweet. Thank you, this means a lot 😉
gregschina said:
Wowser, which I had the time, motivation and money to eat like you do every day!
Greta said:
Time? Hehehe. I have no life: eat, sleep, work, gym… ok, the book, some knitting and some coffee with friends and cleaning… BORING. 😀

Hi Lady,
Man those food pics look delicious!
It sounds like you are getting passionate about your exercise….hiring a trainer – that’s serious. And it’s a great way to give yourself to support.
I went dancing to live drumming last Saturday night and got super sore all over. It was ecstatic to let myself be moved by the drum rhythms, and I didn’t injure myself. but I was working muscles that had gotten soft. I’m lucky we have these drummers who really know how to beat out some great African poly-rhythms.
BTW, I’ve never like that slogan ~ ‘no pain, no gain’. …But I know you don’t mean that you have to have a harsh drill sargent inflicting pain in order to achieve strength and healthy fitness… I’m just quibbling with meanings.
ooxxoo
Greta said:
I knew some of you will understand the “true” meaning of that 😀
And I have always been into some fitness, I just don’t talk about it here as it’s not very serious, however still serous – and the trainer is just for creating me the new exercise plan and guiding me along for the first sessions.
Drumming is so cool! I truly would love to get lost into ding something like that!

I have been sore from some intense hot yoga classes. I do it everyday and some days the focus is core work or leg work. Today I am very stiff! It is always a good feeling to hurt from a workout. Enjoy it. I’m sure you look amazing. xo
Greta said:
Aww, thanks I really hope to one day to say to myself “you look amazing” honestly! I hope I hope!
And I sense that you are one of these yogies I call “killers”, when people walk soaking wet from your classes 😀

Back exercises. Everytime I do back exercises I end up feeling it for DAYS!
The food looks great as usual. Especially the smoothie. What’s your recipe?
Greta said:
Oh, good! Back is good!
As for that smoothie here it goes:
2 handful of frozen raspberries
2 tablespoons Goji berries
1 tbsp protein powder
1/2 tsp vanilla powder
1 tbsp Extra virgin cocnut Oil
2 tbsp of coconut Cream
Slightly crushed cocoa beans and fresh raspberries on top.
Voila!Tastes divine!
Happy Thursday, love!
Liz_Adorable said:
Thank you. I will give it a try. I need to get a good brand of protein powder and vanilla powder. I love smoothies they are so good and easy.
Greta said:
Haha! I’m the opposite!I like chewing my food. But you are right – they are quick and easy and nutritious as well.
I hope to incorporate more of those into my diet 😉

Pain is good if it’s a “good” pain. You definitely don’t ever want to over do it and really hurt yourself.
Oh, and that frozen berry smoothie looks so good! 🙂
Greta said:
Yeah, I know what you are talking about!! But my pain is good. I hate my flat ass, I should’ve done something really challenging long time ago!!
swissfitchick said:
Sore muscles are not the worst. It shows that you challenged your body. Saying that it’s important to recover well (is this ME just sayin’ that??) – so my suggestion is walking, Yoga, Foam Rolling – especially Foam Rolling. It’s IS.
Eh, xcuse me, are you a chef? Or your man? Thank you so much for the shoutout!! Your food looks supersuperdelish!!
Greta said:
Oh, hi the chef from the chef! Haha! No, I’m not, however I made all of these except lunch – I forgot to pack so I went out for that meal. My meals are so freakin simple 😀
Foam Rolling? Never though of that!! OK, today my round two for squatting – will see if I’ll be alive on Friday after that!! 😀

wow, you eat like a queen! right now my abs are sooo sore. When I cough, or laugh, or try to get up from bed it hurts!!!! LOL. good for you for working those squats, i’m pretty sure that way you are working the biggest muscle group! Sometimes I like being sore, that way I know i really worked it! 🙂
Greta said:
Oh, thanks for the queen compliment!
Abs?! This is cool. What do you do for your abs, as I do none of direct exercise for them.
And I hope you are not sick or anything (the coughing?)?
canadagirleatspaleo said:
Yeah I don’t usually do targeted abs workouts either, mostly bigger muscles group weight training. BUT I felt like doing an ab workout the other day… this is what i did http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZoR7YKqIe8
the instructor is CRAZY but this will kill your abs. seriously. They are till a bit sore 3 days later. And no I’m not sick, but I cough when I come inside from my cold walks sometimes 😛 Haven’t been sick all winter 😀
Greta said:
Whoa! Thanks! She is crazy! And you are great doing those to addition to your regular workouts – mixed with the paleo diet – you must look awesome! 🙂

Love my cooked tomatoes (in any way)! And the pancake is super yummy! Trust me! I can’t get enough!
Kath said:
Aww, your meals look so pretty again!! 😀
I’m still too exhausted to exercise, but when I have a little more energy, I want to do it again. I like to do the sun salutation and it usually leaves me with intense pain in my arm muscles when I start to get into a habit of doing it regularly again. I also want to go for walks again and probably start another attempt on running when it gets warmer and I feel better.
Greta said:
Oh, my fragile gorgeous friend. For us (tall girls) putting on muscle is really challenging! We are build to be tall and lean, not muscular. So yeah, any pressure leaves us sore. And rest your body as much as it needs to be rested.
Yeah, that tupperware was driving me bonkers. I love my plates! 😀
Kath said:
Oh yes, exactly! At the beginning of my studies, I used to go to the gym twice a week, and it turned out that I don’t put on muscles, I just get stringy. 😛 Anyway, I feel better with some regular exercise, so I really want to get back to it!
Greta said:
I hope your plan (as going back exercising) will work for you, sweetie 😉 You are gorgeous anyway doing the exercise or not 🙂
thedancingrunner said:
Ow squats! I plan on heading back to my Bodypump class next week to get my lift on. Love those eats too.
Greta said:
What? You are so fit, girl!! And you already exercise madly!! You don’t need anything additional, IMO! You are perfect already!
MassachusEATS said:
Those tomatoes look fantastic – can’t go wrong with anything cheesy! Happy WIAW! 🙂
Greta said:
Oh, I’m all about cheese. I try to limit, as I’m on the Paleo approach, however some little indulgences don’t hurt 😀

Well done you… Any exercise out of a comfort zone will lead to soreness!! It’s a horrid pain that proves you’ve achieved beyond your current capability. I get serious pain in my hamstring from deadlifts… Also lots of quick half squats really burn 🙂
Soak in a hot bath with Epsom salt, stretch and walk it off.
LOVE your food!!
Enjoy The rest of your week xxx
Greta said:
Oh, the deds and quick half squats – it hurts even reading that! The bath – will do, as for today I have the second round of the butt challenge! 😀
Have wonderful week as well, hun!
I’m always happy to see your face here 😉

Finn Crisps! My favorite.
I need to go get some.
Cod is one of my all time favorite fishes … so flaky and succulent yet firm!
Pretty much any exercise I do leaves me sore these days.. I am out of shape for REAL.
Greta said:
You out of shape? Nooo!! I see the muscles. Or am I imagining?
Cod, finn crisps, blond hair… pale skin. You must be Scandinavian. At least the heir of northern europeans 😀

I have a love/hate relationship with muscle soreness. I know that it is a sign that I have worked my body well and it is getting stronger. But ouch! I am currently training for a half ironman so I am often sore and tired right now. But it is a good and happy sore/tired!
Greta said:
You are training for the Ironman? Whoat? And again! Ironman?! I adore you. For real! This must be challenging, but gosh, I wish I had the guts!! Keep up the good work hon! You are worth so much admiration for working so hard!
Jennifer said:
HALF ironman 🙂 Still tough, but not total crazy! Just half crazy 🙂 It is a lot of work. Broke down in tears during my track workout today, but I have a couple of very good friends that are doing it with me so we are there for support and talking down off the ledge.
Greta said:
OH, I’ll be cheering for you.
And please please let me know how it went (no matter on what topic) 😀

EVERYTHING looks so delicious!!! I’m always impressed with your you plate up everything so neatly and pretty. I should take a cue from that! I’ve never had whipped coconut cream though. What is it like?
Greta said:
Who? Me? It’s you who is extremely neat with your food, Asuma!!
Whipped coconut cream, it’s just same as whipped cream but with the true coconut flavor – which is divine. And yes it is a million calories 🙂
Asuma said:
But those million calories sound like they’re worth it 😉

I love your food, it’s always so pretty! Well done on the exercising, it sounds painful. I’m used to pain because of my ballet background, so exercise pain doesn’t bother me, it’s the general pain that doesn’t come from exercise so much as it’s from the fatigue/being chronically unwell that does bother me – I’m a wimp when it comes to that type of pain!
At the moment I’m enjoying the last of Queensland’s tropical Mangoes as we head for autumn. So yummy 🙂
I also can’t stay away from cheese and tomato in anything! Your crackers with the mozarella and tomato reminds me of my favourite lunch growing up when not out at school – I used to put a slice of cheese on each of a few ryvitas, slice some fresh tomato over, sprinkle with chives cut from the garden, and grilled until bubbling. I couldn’t get enough of those 🙂
xx
Greta said:
The fatigue, gosh, this is the worst. And I’m a wimp when it comes to any type of pain – here, I even cry about it in my blog 😀
You know, I can’t afford mangoes here or asparagus (though I indulge in them lately) and even broccoli costs a lot.
I live in a country which economics sucks big time. However we grow our own potatoes, cucumber and make quite good quality of cheese. So cheers to that!
And you should eat more of your childhood foods – sounds awesomely delicious 😉

Yup, I love to eat 😉
