Yesterday was tough. For many. And being over the oceans did not make it easier. This The New Yorker’s cartoon says it all:
My and the world’s hearts root for Boston as well.
I hope you are better today, America.
And there’s what I ate:
Submitted to beautiful Jenn’s Peas&Crayons:
Be good. Be kind to each other. And if there’s somebody you love, tell them. The world always needs more love. Happy Wednesday, cupcakes.
Love, Greta.

I am super impressed that you can do rice cakes with peanut butter without overindulging on the butter!!! I would NOT have that PB control. When I eat PB, it is ALL that I eat for the day because I eat my day of calories in it. Ha ha! A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do! Also I like that your tea cup is labeled. 🙂 xo

I hear you, dear!! I’m the same way. So is my man; therefore when he decides to indulge in a jar and buys it, I have a spoonful or two. I’m learning to let go of that addiction step by step. I do hope that we could have that in moderation some day. 😉

Peanut Butter.
Oh, I love it so… and while I don’t hate that I love it so much (“shout it from the rooftops!”) It’s WAY past the “cute phase” when I was tinier and with the weight I have gained I still find myself in the mentality of “I can eat all I want etc” and so…yeah. It’s like I am eating like a starving girl when I am no longer that way.
Yet I continue to justify my peabee pigouts.
Boo.
If I had a man with a similar peanut butter fetish I would be in T-R-O-U-B-L-E.
lol. I could envision both of us having our own jars on the nightstands. (Nothing kinky mind you.. just spooning it up and watching TV).
PS- Speaking of control — those crackers look OUT of Control. So Beyond. Yum.
Greta said:
First the crackers are so fatty you can’t eat more that a few, I swear – it’s like a crunchy coconut oil (because they are made with coconut oil).
And on the PB. Well, it’s the only thing my boyfriend has no moderation with as well. So yeah, we screwed here.

Ok, that wasn’t the whole shrimp I had. I had more in addition. Like MORE. It’s just so good. I hope you are enjoying something green at the moment. 😉

Lovely post, do you photo all your food or is it a Wednesday thing? It really looks professional, love PB rice cakes, although I’m now into your chocolate ones!! Sending love to you and thoughts are with those in America, sadly affected,so much innocence taken in a moment!! My heart cries out….pointless pain….lol
Greta said:
Hihihi, it’s just a Wednesday thing. I did doubt doing posts of what I eat; however I’ve got many letters from the girls who recover (or trying to) with requests for that. So it’s really not a problem taking pictures just of one day’s meals. 😉

It’s actually helpful for me to see ‘normal’ food day. As I’m early in recovery so I’m on a ‘ food guide ‘, I’m grateful as at the moment as I’m trying ‘experimenting ‘, I find it useful to ‘visualize’ amounts. As I increase my ‘variety’ it’s scary but I’m trying to, ‘go with it’. When you stabilized did you get stuck at all, healthy amounts and nutrients, but BORING!!!!! My T wants me to now aim for ‘food freedom’ I’m hopeful to get there, still rather boring though. I’m just grateful I have got to this point, I’m aiming for FREEDOM in food choice…..chasing a DREAM!!!!! Remaining HOPEFUL !thanks lovely…..lol

Thank you for your kind, supportive words about the tragedy in Boston. We’re all still a bit shaken by it. A man who went just to cheer on his girlfriend had his legs blown off. I mean, things like this really happen? People are truly that evil? I want to believe it’s not so. 😦
Your food is beautiful as usual! I like that you’re not afraid of snacks. Peanut butter on anything is always divine, I have a PB&J sammich almost every day! A friend and I cooked all day yesterday, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. It was marvelous!

I’m glad you’ve spend a fabulous day with your friend, sweetie. On days like these friends and family acquire deeper meaning.

I Love rice cakes with PB and cinnamon! Try it on caramel corn rice cakes…yum! Your quinoa salad looks delicious. I need to cook up some quinoa more often. Have a great day, Greta!!!

Oh, you have a sweet tooth, Fran. PB on Caramel! That must be a bomb. Thank you for stopping by, dear

Your photography and presentation is lovely. Also, lovely sentiments about Boston.
– how do you make your green smoothie?
– do you post a “weekly workout log”?
– Recipe for the salad would be lovely
– I have NO control with rice cakes and nut butter…I’m dealing with a lot of stuff now since I’m chronically fatigued, underweight, but also binging.
I really don’t know what to eat anymore. Not exercising makes it harder but ironically I need to gain. I’d ask ya to email me but I feel that you are overwhelmed with busy-ness now.
Must. Distract. Self.
🙂
Anyway, lovely sentiments and food. Eat more girl! Fuel your brain and heart 🙂

Hi, hon, I’m sorry I truly have no spare minute to sit down and write a decent email even to my mom.
-The green smoothies recipe is here plus I add a cucumber recently.
-I don’t work out at all recently. However I’m going back to the gym next week and all I do is heavy lifting, no cardio whatsoever.
-Promise to make a post on the salad’s recipe.
-Rice cakes are tricky for me too, less then PB but still, I usually end up finishing the whole pack if I get them, so I try not to.
I hope you get help sweetie. If you see it’s too difficult to manage this all by yourself – ask for help. I’ve started recovery with a team of psychologists and my bf by my side. I could call him or my psychologist any time – and I did that a lot and we talked for hours to avoid me binging. I have no idea how would I managed a day, an hour without them… I think you need to talk about it with someone for real…
Sending you all the best, beautiful. Take care of yourself 😉

It was an emotional day felt around the world… I went for a run on our Lachine Canal path across Montreal, and there were many people getting emotional WHILE running. What happened in Boston affected the world, and it really affected runners. Our thoughts are with everyone.
Love your little flax seed crackers! Did you make those homemade??
-JulieC xx
Greta said:
I guess I should start making post on recipes, as you are not the only one asking me on that.
Post on crackers coming soon, promise 😉
I’m happy that you are well, JulieC.

Nice! I had a green smoothie for breakfast this morning. I always crave those after my workouts 🙂
Greta said:
Oh, I know! I used to love eggs in the morning, but those green smoothies are too perfect to be replaced by anything. 🙂

As a resident of Boston, your sentiments truly touch my heart. My entire family, including my 3 year old daughter were waiting at the finish line for my cousin when the bombs went off. Luckily they were all uninjured and were not exposed to the horrific scene, but it was neeve wracking enough. I was a complete wreck until they came home.
I want to thank you all for your thoughts. We are a strong crowd us Bostonians 🙂
Greta, you make healthy food look so good. I actually never tried quinoa until a post you made I think a couple of months ago. You give me great ideas though! Your blog is still one I follow regularly despite my crazy and hectic life!
Greta said:
Oh, I’m so sorry you’ve gone/still going through so much horror, Kay. I’m praying for you and your family.
I’m so happy you are all well, except the soul wounds.
And thank you so much for your nice words. This means a lot.

Still shocked from the terrible events … 😦
Your food looks delicious, pretty, and nourishing as always. I’ve recently picked up the green smoothie habit for breakfast again and feel very good with it. Usually it’s three glasses across the morning until early afternoon. 🙂
Hope you’re fine!
Greta said:
Aren’t those the best, Kath? I’m jealous you drink it three times per day. I wish I had time to make them more often. 😉
Kath said:
You can make one huge batch that’s enough for 2-3 glasses, and store the rest in the fridge for later. (This is how I do it when I’m lazy.) 🙂
