A line halves a white sheet of paper. On one side To Do list, on the other I Want To list. “I wanna dance with somebody..” spreads from the stereo, while my mom’s words “Duties come before pleasure,” said even too many times during my adolescence, are echoing back to my head. But there are some days when it’s hard to follow her advice. And if it’s a muggy day at the end of March, it is almost impossible. Staying under the sheets reading a terrific book vs. needing to wake up, having a shower and facing the city? The desire of strawberries and homemade chocolate truffles – the only thing residing in my little cupboard. My deep will of spring which will be satisfied only by visiting a flower market near home. The car needs a car-wash and I need a new perfume. Hitchcock is showing at the cinema and no one wants to come with me to watch it. My fridge is waiting for a miracle (me doing the shopping) and I think about a great take-away lunch. Luckily I HAVE a slogan for tomorrow’s sales: the shopping joins the musts and pleasure.
Sorry for making you read my rambles this morning.
How is/was your morning?
Have a nice weekend, cupcakes!
Love, Greta.

I would LOVE to see that with you! It’s an absolute shame all 3 of us are literally oceans apart.:(
My morning has consisted of trying to remember my dream from last night (as I have been keeping a dream journal lately) and making coffee, planning the rest of my day in my head as best as I can. I have to sew a complicated shirt for a customer, shop for a certain shade of green fabric for another customer, and then go to my retail job until midnight. As much as I’d hoped I could see my significant other if only for a little while, it is probably not happening today. This saddens me to no end. (Duty vs. pleasure.)
Tomorrow, I am making red velvet cupcakes (her favourite) for my best friend for her birthday. Red velvet is honestly my least favourite of all cakes, so I am going to try my damnedest to make them as not-shitty as possible. (Haha! In a way, also duty vs. pleasure as I’d much rather be making something more palatable!)
Sunday I will get to spend most of the day with G and my family. He is finally meeting my mother. I have to work my retail job in the morning, but get to balance my entire weekend out with an evening of pleasure. ^_^

I’m so pleased you’ve shared your plans with me, girl! Now I can imagine the beautiful you sipping your coffee and moving to your sewing machine and making those colorful treats and visiting your mom with someone so special to you. And it all sound like pleasure to me… At least I see it that way…
It’s strange how sometimes others lives seem more appealing, meaningful, fun and gorgeous than our own ones…
And I wish you to meet for the movies 😉

Darling, you know what the great thing is? We are grown ups and don’t have to follow Mom’s advices. But I know how hard it is to take good decisions when you’re just not in the mood to decide anything even if it is chosing the take away lunch. If I could, I would be right there with you, going to the movies, cooking, shopping. Give yourself a big hug from me please!!
Greta said:
Aww, you are my sweetheart, Lucie! Me too. Want to go to the movies, cooking and shopping together 😉 I dream about it a lot! Than you for being such an amazing friend!

Some days you just need to stay in bed under the covers and take a mental health day! I am totally not opposed to that.
Greta said:
I guess you are right, hun! Though yesterday I gave into duties, while today it’s all pleasure 😉

Yes I’d like to go to a Hitchcock movie with you guys.
For this morning I did a lot of food preparations for hubby, self, and also tended the tummy needs of kitty, and chicks/hens. I read some nice blogs (like this one) and found a lovely new one. Then I weeded in the garden while waiting for a lady to arrive. We dug up some of the flower plants. I divided and gave some to her for her garden. It’s so fun to share the abundance. She brought her daughter who was so delighted to visit my chicks.
That has been my morning.

When I read about your daily deeds it’s seems like dancing – I swear! Maybe it’s serenity of your words, or the environment that you live in and love in – it’s so beautiful, Gel. And I always wish I’m there.

I was an hour late for work today because I wanted to move in slow motion for once. Slowly but surely I arrived to mett my day. Yet, I got one extra sip of coffee, three extra kisses from my kiddies and five minutes longer in the shower. It’s okay to break the cycle of to-do versus I must. I agree! Happy weekend!

Beautiful!
So worth being late! So worth!
Thank you for sharing, sweetie 😉

I feel like having a break too, but the guilt of taking one is more dominant than the relaxation I will feel if I took one. Sigh… ❤
Greta said:
Oh, god – guilt is the worse. That’s why yesterday I obeyed the duty list 😦
I hope you are well, hun 😉

I’m working today — what??? ON A SATURDAY?
Yes.
Its my busiest time of year — but I make up for it during the long summer days of sitting at my desk and blogging about peanut butter and glitter in between small tasks.
Greta said:
Exactly – WHAT??
But I get you. I usually do the same and take two days off during the week 🙂
And yes! I long for your post on PB and glitter. Those are the best to blog about 😉

Insomnia has not done my morning routines any good the past weeks. I am a walking zombie! But had to drop a line to say; that first picture, oh glory, could I live in it?
Greta said:
Gosh! I’m so sorry for your sleep troubles. I’m a walking corpse if I have a bad night. And several in a row – that would be deadly for me!
I wish I were there with my porcelain cups, to sing you to sleep while having tea 😉

I got up way to early on all recent mornings!!!
Greta said:
I hope it’s later that 4am?!
Kath said:
It was 6 am. Still too early for me because I have a hard time finding sleep before 1 or 2 am. 😛
Greta said:
Good god! That’s no good! Maybe some wine could help 😀
Kath said:
Haha, maybe. 😉 However I have noticed that wine makes me fall asleep easier but then I tend to wake up in the middle of the night and can’t find back to sleep again … *sigh*
Greta said:
Aw, you poor thing 😉 I know how much lack of sleep affects me daily. I’m like a walking corpse without my 6 hours of sleep. I hope things will work out well on it 😉
